Alexander MacAlister of Loup fought under Viscount Dundee
at Killiecrankie (1689) and in the following year took part

The eponymous 'Alister' or 'Alexander' was the younger son of
Donald of Islay, Lord of the Isles, from whom the mighty Clan Donald
derive their name. He died in a battle against his kinsman, MacDougall
of Lorne in 1299.
